Your rights at a glance
Goods sold in the European Union are covered by a minimum two-year legal guarantee. You can claim your rights when goods do not match their description or do not function as intended.
Sellers are liable for a lack of conformity that existed when the goods were delivered and becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Remedies include a free repair or replacement and, in some cases, a price reduction or full refund.
Some countries provide a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but it cannot be less than one year.
Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the problem and provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice or bank statement.
Commercial guarantees apply independently of the legal guarantee. The GARAN label identifies a commercial guarantee of durability offered by a producer at no additional cost for the entire good.
