A housewarming gift that will not end up in a cupboard

An invitation to a new home makes it tempting to buy something decorative. But a large ornament can take up the last free corner of a sideboard, and an extra plant is only welcome if someone wants to care for it. A useful housewarming gift starts with the person who will live with it.

Syrma vase as a gift for a new home

Notice three things

If you have seen the home, think about the furniture colours, how many accessories are on display and where your gift could go. Empty shelves do not always mean something is missing. The owner may like them that way. One smaller, useful piece can be a better choice than a large matching set.

If you have not visited yet, ask about colours or take a look at a photograph of the living room. A neutral shade is a reasonable starting point, but even white is not right for everyone. Their taste matters more than a current trend.

For someone who brings flowers home

A vase makes sense when fresh flowers regularly appear on the table. Think about the usual arrangement: a few tulips and tall branches call for different proportions. On a dining table, choose a size that lets people see each other; a taller piece might have its own spot on a sideboard.

Syrma suits someone drawn to flowing lines. Our vases are watertight, so they can hold water for fresh flowers without an additional insert. Before ordering, compare the height and footprint with the available space.

For a home filled with plants

The best planter is one that fits an existing plant. Find out the nursery pot's diameter across the top rim and its height. The decorative planter's opening needs to leave enough space to put it in and lift it out; a photograph alone will not tell you that.

Do not automatically add a new plant. A planter on its own leaves the recipient free to choose and avoids giving them another job. Direct planting is also possible in our planters, with drainage holes made on request.

A personal gift does not need a large inscription

A colour associated with a favourite place or a shape you chose together can make a gift personal. If the recipient enjoys making things, show them our 3D design tool and explore a shape together. This tool is for designing objects, rather than placing a finished product inside a photograph of a room.

Personalisation is available on selected products. Check the options in the product details and double-check the spelling of any name. Do not assume the same lettering can be added to every model.

A quick check before ordering

  • Does the gift have a likely place and use?
  • Are the dimensions right, as well as the colour?
  • Would one piece be enough?
  • Will production and delivery fit your plans? Use the current delivery estimate on the product page.

Add a short note explaining why you chose that shape or shade. It can mean more than a large decoration picked without knowing where it will go.
