A dog feeding corner in a small flat: where to put the bowls

Your dog does not need a separate room in a small flat. It does need a spot where an opening cupboard door will not bump into it at mealtimes, and where spilled water is easy to wipe up. A good feeding corner starts with placement. Bowl colour comes later.

Test the spot during an ordinary day

Before buying anything, put the current bowls in the proposed spot or mark their footprints with paper. Open the fridge, dishwasher and nearby cupboard. Walk past carrying a shopping bag. If you keep stepping around the bowls or moving them out of the way, try another stretch of wall.

Your dog needs space beside the bowl as well as room for its base. Watch how it naturally stands when eating. A narrow gap between furniture may look tidy in a photograph but be awkward in everyday use.

Leave some of the corner empty

Start with the bowls and, depending on your floor, a suitable washable mat. Food storage, spare bags and the lead do not all have to sit beside them. Clear surroundings also make spilled water and leftover food easier to notice.

Choose a mat that catches everyday splashes without extending into a walkway. After cleaning, let its underside dry too. On wooden floors, check that moisture is not trapped underneath.

Choose dimensions around actual use

Compare the dimensions and capacity with the bowl your dog uses now. Can it comfortably reach the food? Does the rim get in the way? A breed name alone is not a substitute for checking the measurements of a particular bowl.

Do not choose a raised bowl simply because it looks more elegant. This guide is about arranging your home. If a medical condition affects feeding posture, discuss the right setup with your vet.

Repeat one colour, not the whole room

Choose a shade that already appears in the room, perhaps on a planter or a textile. A simple contrast with the floor can work too. The bowl does not have to match every other accessory.

ROXY with a name combines a personal detail with a removable stainless-steel insert. Before ordering, check the variant, dimensions and spelling. Personalisation is a nice touch, but everyday usability still comes first.

Make cleaning easy on a busy morning

Imagine holding the insert in one hand and a cloth in the other. Can you clean the spot without moving three decorations first? If so, the corner is doing its job. Wash the PLA body gently with lukewarm water and keep it out of the dishwasher. Clean the removable stainless-steel part separately, following the care instructions for the particular product.

If the bowl moves around during meals, read what to check when a bowl slides across the floor. A feeding corner does not have to be large to be comfortable to use and straightforward to keep clean.

Dancing pet bowl

A practical problem in every dog household Why does my dog push the bowl across the floor and how to stop it? If your dog pushes the bowl across the kitchen while eating, flips it over or scatters kibble everywhere, it may not just be a bad habit. The problem often lies in the bowl itself - its shape, weight or the type of flooring. A sliding bowl can seem like a small thing - until it starts happening every single day. The dog is hungry, the bowl travels across the floor, water ends up a...

How to Choose the Right Bowl and What Really Matters

A practical guide for dog owners What is the correct bowl height for a dog? A dog bowl is not just a detail in your home. Your dog stands at it every single day, so it should be at a height where they don't have to hunch or strain - just eat naturally. When choosing a bowl, most people focus on capacity, colour or the dog's name. That is completely natural. But if you want the bowl to be truly practical, you need to consider its height as well. The right bowl height does not mean as high...
